Change the world: Code something amazing.
What you'll do:
- Team up with friends to solve a problem you care about
- Learn how to code a solution to that problem
- Develop a plan to launch a business for your tech solution and learn how to pitch your ideas to potential investors
- Submit your project to our global competition
You can participate through a Technovation site near you, or participate virtually on your own.
Timing:
The Technovation Challenge season runs from August - May, and registration is open between October and March 11th, 2027.
Projects are due to the competition by May 5 at 5pm PDT.

The Technovation Challenge competition is free and open to all youth 8-18. The competition has two tracks. The Girls Track involves teams of girls as well as nonbinary, gender-fluid, and transgender participants who want to be part of a female-identified environment. The Mixed Track involves teams that are co-ed or boys. Finalists are selected and awarded separately from both tracks.

There are two options to volunteer with Technovation: Mentoring and Judging. Choose the opportunity that fits your interests and schedule.
Mentor
What you'll do:
- Support a team of students for an entire season
- Help your team stay on track to complete their project and submit to the competition
- Help your team find answers to questions and overcome challenges as they come up
Mentors can work with a team in a local program, if available, or search for a team to work with on our platform.
Note: we encourage you to find a friend or co-worker to mentor with to help share the work!
Time commitment:
30-40 hours in total, from October to May:
- 1-2 hours for onboarding + 2-4 hours a week working with a team
Onboarding includes on-demand training and a background check.

Judge
Judging is a flexible, high-impact opportunity that can be done from home, at times that work with your schedule.
What you'll do:
- Review and score teams' projects
- Provide constructive feedback to teams on how to improve their app and encourage them to keep building
- Help determine the teams that advance to semifinals and finals.
Time commitment:
5+ hours in total, from May to June
- 1 hour for onboarding, 4+ hours for project review and scoring

Change your community: Lead the Technovation Challenge locally
What you'll do:
Bring the Technovation Challenge to your community as a Chapter. Chapters are local partner organizations who run the program in a community or region. They identify students and provide learning opportunities through facilitators, educators, or mentors.
Timing:
The official Technovation Challenge season runs from August - May, but local program leaders often begin preparing for the upcoming season earlier.
Please note: there is an application process to be a local program partner.

Change the workforce, and the world: Invest in the leaders of tomorrow
What you'll do:
Support Technovation's mission to empower millions of youth as a corporate partner and funder.
- Provide funding to help Technovation educate and empower more youth in more places
- Engage your employees in meaningful skill-based volunteering opportunities
- Build your talent pipeline by connecting with Technovation's tenacious, innovative alumnae in the workforce
- Establish your company as a leader in gender equality and AI education.
