Technovation is the largest and longest-running technology competition for young women.

Through Technovation, young women work in teams to develop innovative mobile app “startup” businesses to solve real problems in their communities. Teams of young women  ages 10 to 23 are supported by a Technovation Teacher from their school or local community and a Technovation Mentor from the technology, science, engineering, or business industry who together guide the teams through the basics of software development, user interface design, market research, and entrepreneurship. The program culminates in a World Pitch event where regional finalists compete to win $20,000 in funding for their apps.

We know that today’s young women represent the next generation of technology entrepreneurs. Technovation hopes to close the gender gap in computer science by teaching female students to be the creators — and not just the end users — of mobile applications. In teaching them the basic tenets of computer science and guiding them to be true entrepreneurs with the end goal of solving real-world problems, Technovation aims to ignite young women’s passion for technology product development and inspire them to pursue  degrees and careers in the field.
